Dr. Leah Roth BSc, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Leah Roth is a pediatrician who has a special interest in breastfeeding and infant nutrition. She is the medical director of the Betterbreastfeeding clinic.

Dr. Roth graduated from medical school at McMaster University in Hamilton and pursued her Pediatrics residency training at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary where she was the Chief Resident in her final year of training.

Since graduating in 2002, she has worked as a hospital-based pediatrician as well as a general pediatrician providing both primary and consulting care.

Most recently, she has worked as a staff pediatrician at the Newman Breastfeeding Clinic and Institute with training by Dr. Jack Newman and Edith Kernerman.

Dr. Roth has two young children of her own and understands the challenges new mothers face.

Lynda Kirby RN, LCCE, IBCLC

Lynda started her career as a staff nurse at Toronto General Hospital and later became the coordinator of the Home Care Program (CCAC) at the Toronto Western and Mount Sinai Hospitals.


In 1989, expectant with her second baby and hopeful to make changes to a medicalized first birth and difficult postpartum period, she began a new personal and professional journey. 



In 1991, Lynda graduated from the International Lamaze Certification Program and began teaching prenatal classes through Mount Sinai Hospital’s Family Practice program. In 1993 she participated in Penny Simkin’s Second Annual Birth Doula Training (DONA) and began supporting woman and their partners in labour and birth.

By 1996 Lynda observed the need for ongoing support for families in the postpartum period. She trained as a postpartum doula (DONA) and began working with Dr. Jack Newman and Edith Kernerman at the breastfeeding clinic at NYGH.

Lynda became staff at the Newman Breastfeeding Clinic and Institute and now practices independently as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

Lynda has been married for 26 years to "the best guy ever" and together they have 4 amazing kids, Caitlin, Quinn, Matthew and Timothy. Lynda is passionate about advocating for and educating breastfeeding moms and babies at Betterbreastfeeding.
